Creating an alert based on a calculated date field

Greetings!

We have a list, which has a date field. We want to send out email reminders to people two weeks before the date is reached. I attempted to do this with Reminder 365 out of the box, but then I decided to create a calculated column, which subtracts 14 days from the aforementioned date field. However, when I attempt to create an alert, I am not able to pick the calculated column.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated :)

Reminder 365 doesn't support calculated column date fields at the moment.

I've added your 'vote' to our Feature Request list and should this be added in future we will let you know.

Thanks for your help. Typing in the date by hand isn't a huge deal, so I think we should be fine for now. I'll keep an eye on Reminder 365 to see if the feature gets included in a future update.

Just a quick note to let you know that you can now use calculated date/time fields in Reminder 365.

Be sure to click "Refresh" on the bottom of your site/list/view tree to pick up the fields

Using other fields as Send To adressees

I have a form library for recording risks. There are fields for (amongst other things) next review date and nominated risk manager.

I want Reminder 365 to use the Nominated Manager field to pull the email address from, rather than the pre-selected fields.

I know that this will require some fiddling with RegEx to make work, but I can get InfoPath to create a Submit rule this way, so I had hoped to be able to do the same here.

Is this possible?

Hi Ian - is your Nominated Manager a "Person" field type? If so you can just use it by selecting in the Send To - no regex foo needed.

(See in this area of the Alert config where it shows a drop down next to the To and CC fields - these are Person fields in your list http://sharepoint-alert.com/files/2013/04/image04.png).

If it isn't a person field type (e.g. just a plain text field) then you can't use it,sorry!

Email Reminders Not Being Sent

I am using the free version of Reminder 365, the application is not sending the email to the respective members since 14-08-2015.

Is there any change in the policy for the free version?

I don't understand your question then. I see two alerts in your account and both have ran today and sent emails today.

Can you elaborate please?

The apps shows that the reports have run but they were not received in the recipients Outlook accounts.It seams to be working ok today, but I'll monitor it for the next couple of weeks to see if it happens again. Thanks for your quick response mate.

E-Mail Reminder Not Sending Properly

We are using Reminder 365 (Free Version) on a trial basis to see if this is the best application for us, however not all of the notices for past due items are generating. I have reviewed the scheduling settings, but cannot seem to figure out what is wrong. Is it limited to the amount of email communications because it is indeed the free version?

Hi Jose,

There isn't a limitation in the number of emails sent so it must be something else.

Its likely just a mis-understanding - Reminder will only send emails for items that have BECOME due since the alert was setup - so if something was already due a month ago when an "Items overdue since last check" alert was setup then it won't be picked up .

If you think this still isn't working then please contact us on support@pentalogic.net with some details of items where the email has been missed. (screenshots of your list are invaluable when explaining things)

I am interested in the feature of checking documents annually for ISO accreditation purposes.

We are using Office 365 and I have installed Reminder 365.

However, I can't see how I would set up an annual reminder for the library.

Please advise.

Hi Adeel,

You would need a Date/Time column in your list that has the next check date.

Then you would setup an alert to check this list Daily for any items "Due before next check" using this "Check Date" field.

Once you've checked a document then you would change the "Check Date" field to be 1 year in the future - so it all repeats again.
